Frequently Asked Questions
How is the average waiting time for a first appointment calculated?
The data is drawn from those who are currently on the patient tracking list and have a first outpatient appointment booked. It shows the average (mean) number of weeks between the date the trust received the referral and the first outpatient appointment date for booked patients.
Please note that these are average waiting times and do not reflect the exact time patients should expect to be waiting.
Where is the data sourced from?
The three acute trusts in south east London (Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust) share a summary of their patient tracking list with South East London Integrated Care Board every week. The waiting times are calculated from this data.
Does the data take into account community services?
The waiting times information only includes secondary care services at the three south east London acute trusts (Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust); it does not include community services.
How often is the waiting times data updated?
The waiting times data should be refreshed once a week. The last day that it was refreshed can be seen below the waiting times table.
